I sure hope so too ; Even though most efforts point to a diplomatic agreement at this moment, I can't help myself thinking that the US will intervene. (it only takes a spark to set the thing on fire)

Why else would the continue to deploy military forces in the Gulf region , even _after_ hearing that an agreement is in the make to end this confrontation peacefully ?

A Reuters Newsflash from a day or two ago mentioned that according to
an old (but still effective) UN resolution, the US can use military
force *unilateraly* whenever they see fit.
