Hi Sonny: For some reason I could not access SI yesterday. Belated Birthday greetings...might as well join in the parade.

Just noticed your comments re the Nikkei. What everyone seems to forget is that the Nikkie index which was around 90 or so, (as far as I know,) in the early 1950's and was the relentless bull market story of the next forty years. With hardly a credible interruption over that time, (not even the crash of '87 could restrain it for long), it finally succumbed to the bears in the 90's and is now having a multi-year almost decade long correction.

When you compare the Nikkei's bull run to the US market, you don't have to be a brain surgeon to figure there may still be a whole lot more upside. If you consider the possibility as I do that in many ways the US economy has replaced the Japanese miracle economy of the 80's, and what some people are calling the miracle economy of the World for the 90's and will hopefully continue lead us kicking and screaming into the 21st Century high tech Wonderworld, then our market doesn't look so high today, something I hope has not been lost on the Fed Chairman in regards to maintaining high growth and low interest rates.

For this reason, as I eluded to in recent posts, inspite of the trumoil of late, the market so far is displaying an admirable upward bias and some stocks are performing outstandingly.

Just look at some of my recent favs mentioned such as QCOM, IOM and IDTC. The latter looks awesome probably because their net to phone and phone to phone continues to improve in quality and gains a little extra ground every day. My own feeling the coming acceleration in Web access speed and quality either thru Cable/Sat courtesy MSFT and Co or INTC with ALCATEL or ROCKWELL and HDSL2 is going to catapult these internet phone pioneers and a new genre of high tech companies into a whole new dimension.

The Nikkeis performance alone is an example of what's possible in terms of bull markets and bears...

What do you think
