Hard to believe? Perhaps. I got cashed out of Learning Co. on Dec 29 or so a couple of years ago when they were bought out for cash. In retrospect, it was a great deal.

A strategy if you are charitably minded and have a gain this year: Donate AMTX shares. You get the tax deduction at $20/share with no capital gains! For example, say you bought at $10. Instead of taking your cash and paying taxes on $10 gain, you donate stock for a $20/share deduction. If you are in a relatively high tax bracket, you can make a donation that really costs you relatively little.
