What is your current analysis of DLB?

I don't think you had "superficial analysis", but with these companies there's always a risk of licensee defection and there's always clients playing chicken to extract the most favorable licensing terms. If you look at IDCC, NOK, QCOM, etc. there are legal and PR maneuvers that last for years and years. That's the drawback of licensing companies. Plus the results are usually lumpy and investors hate lumpy results, so the stocks are even more volatile.

On the other hand, you have potential for upside jump if things go well. Unfortunately, DLB is closely held, so the sale of the company is probably unlikely, so we can't expect patent buyout.
