Greg: You are assigning to me too much "market wisdom", I wish I had "criteria" as you called them. I am flexible, there are few stock that represent very good companies that are going to grow that are in temporary disfavor. Right now T and BA come to mind, T has good dividend Ba will have them. The timing, I look to buy during panics and then sell the covered out of the money calls on major rallies. If the stock, is called away, I buy it back (and few times it cost me the premium I received, but on average it does not). When I expect a very bad market, I usually write deep in the money calls and covers these if I was right, if I was not, I go back to rule 1, buy back the stock and try and time the writting of the call at a local peak and cover at periodic Nadirs. Since I am bullish over the time horizons beyond June of next year, I'll stop writing these calls, when I see a major shift coming.
