Having read both sides' documents, my impression is that the DOJ agreed to the terms as Microsoft claims. As X Ray Man points out "...DOJ didn't understand what was going on in the area of computer software, IMHO." And now that JAVA isn't turning out to be the industry saving "sliced bread", MSFT competitors are leaning on DOJ to do something.

Maybe the DOJ is making a huge specticle out of the this; $1million a day, so when MSFT is cleared (again) they will have demonstated to the public that MSFT acts in a legal manner.

Any truth to Vanity Fair's comment about Gates threating to take MSFT offshore if the DOJ doesn't layoff?
