VTel Corp. (VTEL)

After market close, VTEL CORP reported 1Q EPS of $0.01 vs ($1.52) after charge on revenues of $44.2 mln vs $46.0 mln last year. Analysts' mean estimates were ($0.03), according to First Call. 1Q 96 includes a charge of $28.8 mln. (Reuters 04:12 PM ET 11/19/97)

Both Product and Service revenues were lower than last month...not good! Did you get a feel from the conference call as to what the company plans to do about this?

Operating margins did increase but they really need to work on growing those sales revenues. If our management can accomplish this the service revenues will follow. Even with PCTL's problems, it appears to this investor that our company could not capitalize on PCTL's losses. Let's crank up our marketing another notch.

From Briefing.com:

Vtel Corp. (VTEL) 7 5/8 +1/8: designer and manufacturer of multi-media conferencing systems posts a fiscal 1Q profit of $0.01 a share, ahead of the First Call estimate of a loss of $0.05 a share, vs loss of $0.25 a share in the year-ago period; revenues for the quarter rose 56.8% to $44.23 mln from year-ago, but on a sequential basis they fell 4%.....

Notice that year to year revenues are up 56.8% but I believe the difference is due to the inclusion of the CLIX revenues. Annualized revenues at current levels shows $180 Million down from the initial forecasts of $200 Million (my etimate BEFORE the merger)...still not good!
