U.S. solar energy manufacturers are reportedly planning to file anti-dumping and countervailing duty petitions with the U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. Department of Commerce as soon as this afternoon.

“It is critical that governments and private parties operate within the framework of internationally-negotiated trade rules,” said Rhone Resch, president and CEO of the
Solar Energy Industries Association. “If it appears that trade obligations are not being met, solar companies – whether foreign or domestic – have the right to request an investigation into alleged unfair trade practices.”

The U.S. boasts more than 5,000 companies in the U.S. solar energy industry, which employ over 100,000 American workers, according to the 2011 Solar Jobs Census.
