"Government employees" mean all Federal, State, County and Municipal employees. Federal Employees are a a distinct part of that. State and Local government lost many jobs in the time period you mention. Unfortunately they decided to only post a monthly movement on Federal jobs. Kind odd. However, I am of the opinion that the Federal jobs increased and all other State , Local etc government jobs did much better in the same time period. Look toward the bottom of the PFD and you will see. If you find statistics for just Federal jobs during the period Kenneth mentioned please post them. Kenneth wanted to make it appear Obama cut Federal employees. bls.gov
