®This thread has been so mentally challenging it is causing me to think more about God's Word than I have HAD to before.¯

All I can say is Praise the Lord!

Trust me you are not by yourself.

I wanted to add one last comment about Cain and Abel.

I have come to view the Scriptures as an unfolding revelation of God to his people. In essence it is the history of how God's people came to know their Lord. But it is much more! I see it as a progressive revelation with its perfect and absolute culmination being when the Word became flesh in Christ.

In light of this progressive unfolding revelation view of the Bible, I am uneasy with applying God's relevation at a latter age to the people of an earlier age.

In the case of Cain & Abel, I don't believe either had the foggiest idea about the concept of a blood offering for atonement of their sin. In fact I am not even sure Cain even knew what murder was. Nobody had ever died before! He may have been suprised as much as anybody that Abel didn't get back up.

Just a thought,
