Remember the 2008 campaign when Sarah Palin claimed that she has more experience than Obama since she was a major of Wasilla, and then less than half term as governor of Alaska?
Obama has the experience of being POTUS while none of the GOP candidate can claim the same thing. Granted that Obama - and anyone becoming POTUS the first time - is on the job training. Obama tries to be a nice guy and emphasized bipartisanship. That is over now.
Just watch that in his second term Obama will be forceful, and not weak. WEAK? He got the Somali Pirates, he got bin Laden and he got Awlaki. WEAK? For 8 years Cheney and Rumsfeld did not get bin Laden, and no one says that they are weak. They are incompetent.
Obama is not the savior of the country/ Many time he is hard headed. Listen to what Hillary says: You can achieve more with economic approach than military power. Just watch China: not a single bullet has been shot for many years in memory, yet, their influence in Africa and the Middle East has been achieved through economic cooperation. Have Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya become our friends? And yet we are wasting the lives of our brave soldiers trying to subdue those countries to become our allies. Has it worked?
I have gained more and more respect for Hillary.
But history tells us that the people elected Obama over Hillary for the standard bearer of the Democratic Party. Would she have won if she were the nominee and beat McCain. Well, that's a conjecture. Let's not rehash what has happened, but look forward. Obama wants a second term, and traditionally his party will give it to him. Maybe Hillarry will become his VP this second time around, and that Obama will resign in the middle of his second term, letting Hillary be the POTUS for the good of the country, and Obama would become the elder statesman and do good charity work like Hillary's hubby.
GW Bush is basically not a bad guy, just like his Dad, but he was an immature POTUS and became a puppet with Cheney pulling the strings. Remember that he did not pardon Scooter Libby and he and Cheney hardly have any contact. GWB has keep his silence, not willing to criticize or undermine Obama's policies. I think his conscience gets the better of him, especially his father no doubt has given him excellent advice.
Obama will be more forceful in his dealings with politicians across the isle. He makes many mistakes, that is given, but many people just ignore his achievements. One of Ted's post on this thread listed some of Obama's accomplishments for the good of the nation.
If Obama has white skin, will he have this much problem? Nobody will say publicly that being black is not a factor. But privately?
I am amazed that many on SI seems to know better than Obama, and that they have the solutions for the ills of the country. Really? None of us has more info than Obama and with the limited knowledge and so called intelligent, they know the answer than the current POTUS? My answer is: look into the mirror.
So far I am concerned, let the executive branch work on finding the solution, and who am I to know better than the experts currently in the office. |
