10/21/11 Contest Update Friday’s Gadaffi rally came to the rescue of the Bulls, with this week’s tug-of-war with the Bears winding up pretty much a draw. At Friday’s close, the NBI was up 4.24% YTD (vs. up 4.32% YTD a week ago) and the Contest median was down -3.07% YTD (vs. down -5.27% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was down -.58% YTD (vs. up .56% YTD a week ago). JIBAC’s portfolio (up 50.22% YTD) held on to its big lead, with GENE’s portfolio (up 35.90% YTD) moving into second place and FIB’s portfolio (up 34.89% YTD) taking over third place. At Friday's close, 16 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the black, while 10 were beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week (foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these two tables). Portfolio adjustments: CEPH buyout by Teva for $81.50 per share. ROCKY’S portfolio was the only holder of CEPH and I will reallocate buyout proceeds based on Friday, 10/21/11 closing prices.
