Bosnia war was not so much about homogeny vs. heterogeny, but turf struggle after breakup of the Soviet Union. Nationalism run amok.

I suppose if the US devolved into political chaos, Mexicans and Texicans might be shooting each other in South Texas, but that seems more like fantasy to me.

As long as the federal government has nuclear weapons, not going to happen.
