Its ironic the CDs I mentioned in my previous post fall into this exact category of cash flow vs profit margin I talked about in post 97.

The artist is obscure but his fans are truly FANatics. I'm paying $195 for 10 signed copies even though he only asked for $170. There are NONE available anywhere for sale and they won't be reissued IMHO. None on Gemm, none on Amazon, none on half or ebay, and in my opinion its a work of Genius.

Over the next couple of years I'm pretty confident I'll sell them for increasingly large amounts. I'll put the first one up for $25 on Gemm, the next one $35, next $50 etc. I'll probably sell the last one for as much as I paid for all of them. Artists really need to start acting like artists rather than performers IMHO. I think this model is the correct one.

Cash flow is great for Madonna, but for the guys who stand to sell a few thousand really artistic recordings the present model DOES NOT WORK.
