You are quite right about mobile wireless broadband being less costly in Australia. My 3G service is $39 a month for 10Gb, and since I have phone service, too, I get a $5 discount off that. It works pretty well along the east, southeast, and southern coast (including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra, and Cairns) although there are some areas outside the cities that slow to a crawl. (It was even cheaper 2 1/2 years ago when the Aussie dollar was only worth 60 US cents.)
