Miller Howard Q3 quarterly report is an interesting read. They have a handful of portfolios, all of which are based on their belief in dividend growth. They point out a number of positives in the current environment, especially for companies with recurring revenues and essential services: Demand for essential services may moderate when the world is moving slowly, but not by much. You've got to have energy, you need to communicate, you need water. It's not something you can postpone. They believe MLPs are at attractive valuations. They continue to maintain that utilities are better than bonds, and over the long term can serve much the same purpose investors typically use bonds for but with better results. Worth a read IMO. If you like it, go back and read prior quarters on their website, some of the older reports had some excellent articles.
