I am familiar with those places and know what you are talking about. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I know the streets as well as anyone. Earned my way through college playing poker in the clubs of the Bay area. Low ball in those days. I know seedy-lol.

I am simply looking at society from a humanistic scientific perspective. Part of our problem is simple overpopulation. In Alaska we have few people and a large resource base and we are doing very well. But part of the reason we are doing so well is that during our two formative periods we had liberals who organized our state and understood modern social theory: i.e. during the construction of our constitution and during our social organization. I wrote and implemented two major statewide programs.

It was liberals who demanded from the Republicians (who have always been in bed with the oil companies), that we form a permanent fund with our oil money. It was a blood in the streets battle but we liberal dems controlled the house and forced the Republican parties and oil companies to set aside 25% of all oil revenue in a permanent fund.

Now we have 50 billion in it and the revenue pays for all our social systems and so we have no state taxes. Never will I expect as our permenent fund is growing faster than our population.
