Interesting. The accelerometer's mass can be accounted for in the design of the voice coil, I would think. You could use three of them at 120 degree intervals around the coil, so they'd balance each other perfectly, while providing for more accurate measurements.

This is something that needs to be cracked. Cracked, I say!
