Novell's Schmidt: Java Will Replace C, C++
(11/19/97; 8:00 p.m. EST)
By Steven Burke, Computer Reseller News

From the article: "...LAS VEGAS -- Novell CEO Eric Schmidt predicted that Java will replace C and C++ as the dominant computer language..."

"...Schmidt said Novell is putting huge resources into staking out the No. 1 position as a mid-tier Java applications server vendor..."

I took a position in SUNW as my investment in JAVA....I didn't know I was getting this with Novell too. I like Sun's management better than Novell's. Sun has shown they can deliver BOTH new products and top line revenue growth. I am still waiting for this from Novell.

It seems like every time I hear our CEO talk, he keeps pushing out his time period for growing revenues. Now it appears that "his" time period for 'significant' growth in revenues is THREE YEARS!!

I think Paul was right that eventually when the dust settels, NOVEL will be a much smaller company servicing the high end "enterprise" server and networking market.

Dodn't expect any earnings surprises on Tuesday, this investor isn't.
