I mentioned in the other post, I'm lousy in macro. :-o

But I find it's useful to have a vague feeling how expensive the whole market is in general. Shiller looks at PE10. Warren Buffett looks at Market Cap / GNP. Some other investors looks at whole market profit margin.

To a large extent, they all say similar thing.

p.s. Shiller's data is inflation-adjusted.
