Internap Selects Concurrent's eFactor(TM) Product Suite to Expand CDN Service Options for Mobile Video Delivery
eFactor simplifies delivery of live and on-demand content
ATLANTA, Oct. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Concurrent (CCUR), a global leader in video and media data solutions, today announced that Internap Network Services Corporation (INAP) has selected Concurrent's recently introduced eFactor(TM) to simplify multi-format video delivery for live or on-demand content. Internap, a leading provider of intelligent IT infrastructure services, is the first company to leverage Concurrent's new software platform that facilitates preparation and packaging of high quality video content for delivery to a wide range of devices.
"Increasingly, end users are demanding high-quality live and on-demand content on their mobile devices, which makes us very excited about our partnership with Concurrent," said Pete Mastin, vice president of the CDN business unit at Internap. "The new in-stream transmuxing capabilities in Internap's Content Delivery Network leverage Concurrent's eFactor offering, and particularly the Transmux SDK feature. This enables us to dynamically repackage content in transmission to meet the formatting requirements of a variety of end-user devices."
The eFactor product suite is designed to simplify the complex task of delivering multi-format video to varied devices, and is applicable to various markets including CDNs, Internet content aggregators, telcos and MSOs. eFactor's Transmux solution is designed as a software development kit (SDK) that enables on-the-fly repackaging of a single source video asset to the three market-leading HTTP adaptive bitrate formats, including Apple?, Adobe? and Microsoft?, streamlining what has traditionally been a complex and costly task.
"eFactor was built to solve the multi-platform dilemma that many service and content providers face today," said Jim Denenny, Concurrent's general manager and vice president of online media solutions. "Consumers expect 24 hour access to content via multiple devices and providers must be able to deliver. eFactor will enable Internap to build a stronger presence for mobile applications, delivering greater value to their customers."
