All of which, except maybe Squid, can be farm raised, providing an adequate supply to meed demand.

I'm perfectly fine with that scenario.

And squid, which have very accelerated metabolisms (and short life spans) seem less inclined to face immediate extinction.

Sharks, on the other hand, take a long time to reach reproductive maturity. Kill the big ones and you're limiting their ability to reproduce.

In fact, there are new theories about how to protect a species from over-harvesting. Force people to throw back the bigger specimens, since they have already excelled at survival. Let them keep the small fry.
