Bryan, Yesterday, IBD's Medical-Biomed/Genetics group rose a solid 1.5%. That
gain coupled with Thursday's 0.8% gain brought the sector's year to date
loss down to -0.2%. On Jan 1 the sector had just begun a major move
sparked by CNTO's Reopro results. CNBC has been calling for a major move
due to the many conferences scheduled during the upcoming months as well
as Gold money moving into Biotechs, good 3Q earnings, and "smart money"
moves.
Thursday, LGND wowed the Bear Stearns attendees and rose 2 1/2 on record
volume (1.5 million shares). Although the price dropped 3/4 yesterday on
just under 400,000 shares, some of the price drop may have been caused by
MMs positioning the price for some major activity next week.
Interestingly,LGND's accumulation/distribution ROSE yesterday (from "C" to
"B") suggesting that much of yesterday's activity was due to BUYING even
though the price dropped.
