Solar Grade Polysilicon Falls 7.7% in a Week, New Energy Says

By Marc Roca - Nov 1, 2011 5:40 AM CT

The spot prices of polysilicon, the raw material used in most solar panels, fell 7.7 percent last week driven by a weak market, Bloomberg New Energy Finance data shows.

The average selling price, which has been falling since August, dropped to $34.51 per kilogram in the week to Oct. 31, according to a survey conducted by the London-based research firm. It has dropped 21 percent this month and is less than half the price at the start of the year.
