While it is possible these events will give Cain a short-term bounce, if he cannot begin to present something approaching a professionally run campaign, I don't think he would have a chance running against Obama.

I like the idea of an "outsider" as president provided he appears to a good administrator. But after a while, you start to question whether he has the necessary skills to manage the biggest organization in the world.

OTOH, I don't see any others (R or D) who really impress me as having that ability, other than maybe Gingrich. Ultimately, Gingrich may end up being the big beneficiary of all this.

At this point in time, a grossly incompetent person (like Obama) at the helm would be a disaster for the country. I think everyone needs to take this race more seriously than the last one; we collectively rolled the dice in '08 and ended up crapped out. As a nation we cannot afford another screwup like that.
