If you didn't watch all of it, you may have missed that the mother joined in the abuse and also hit the girl with the belt. Then at the end came back in the room and told her to get a blanket because she was sleeping somewhere else in the house.

I just wanted to be sure that you knew the mother was just as much part of it as the father.
