So once again, we have a nameless, faceless accuser, with no evidence whatsoever, prolonging the attack on Cain. And she's going to have her attorney tell us she registered a complaint with her employer (which we already know) and demanded a payoff (which we already know), but not provide any details of the events?

Don't bother.

Washington (CNN) -- One of the women who reportedly accused Republican presidential contender Herman Cain of sexual harassment was close to reaching an agreement Friday that would let her issue her first public statement on what happened, according to her lawyer.

The controversy has dominated Cain's front-running campaign for the past week. A defiant Cain insists he will not let the issue deter him.

Joel Bennett, the attorney representing the alleged victim, sent a draft statement by his client to the National Restaurant Association on Thursday to seek its approval. Bennett told CNN Friday afternoon that his discussions with the group's counsel have been "cooperative" and "mutually satisfactory."

Bennett is asking the association for permission to release a statement that will not violate the confidentiality and non-disparagement provisions of a 1999 settlement agreement.

Bennett told CNN the statement will not include his client's identity, because she is trying to "remain private." The statement would be a summary of "what she did and why she did it," but not include specifics about any incidents or any settlement, he noted.
