Republican ideology: <<Off the top of my head I would say more leaning towards personal responsibility, pulling yourself up from your bootstraps and ending the blame game, no quotas based on race or sex , ending of hand outs to healthy adults who should be working, blaming many liberal actions of the 1960's for the breakdown of the family and destruction of the black community. >>

Good summary.

And any good liberal can take everyone of those arguments apart with ease, using meat and potatos science.

E.g. in the 60's we used to make fun of the Horatio Alger bullshit the right wing was always slinging at us.

Just last night on Charlie Rose they had a blue ribbbion committee of neuro scientists explaining how the mind works.

One woman pointed out that in a middle class home educational success is 50/50 nature/nurture.

But in the ghetto it was 10/90 nature/nurture i.e. unless the kids get some help from society those with big brains will probably just become smart failures.

And this is why we have affirmative action, etc, etc.

The right wing lives in a simplistic fantasy world and that is what has driven liberals crazy my whole life.
