I bought JEF and after Meredith comments i bought more. However it does alarm me that I read in barrons' of october 31st that MF management said they had no more than $1 of risk in their euro trades and now after the downgrades the company has filed for bankruptcy. It seems more and more that the tape is a lot more truthful than words spewed out of the mouths of management. However, MF seems to be the classically bad example where a board highers an experienced reputable guy who puts know money in, than risks all the investors money for better or for worst. JEF seems a different kettle of fish in that management owns around 10% of the company I think lucadia owns a big chunk so my guess is that they probably send in their own auditors to see whats going on. theyd be foolish not to.
