Yep, I saw the AARP commercial. It's quite good. And it's one I support. Part of our income comes from social security and I'm on medicare. My wife is still fully employed so she's not on medicare yet.

Moreover, one of my basic philosophical principles is that societies are better if they provide for the elderly. In lots of ways.

As for whether seniors will vote for Obama in 2012 should he agree to cuts, I think, to repeat myself, it's fairly complicated. It depends on how well the Obama campaign paints the choices between themselves and Romney (assuming he's the guy) and how much the cuts are. If Romney looks like Paul Ryan (the NYTimes has a piece this morning that claims Romney's approach to medicare in his speech yesterday was basically drawn from Ryan's plan), and the cuts are small, and the Obama people manage to campaign at least partially as well as they did in 08, then he could squeak through.

Here's hoping.
