He pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident causing injury, got the minimum sentence, which the judge suspended .... he got a slap on the wrist in a case where a young women died. And the Massachusetts public apparently thought his behavior was acceptable for a public official.

The TX judge, while he can't be charged with anything, will never sit as a judge again.
