Yeah, you have it figured out very well. You are right, kids who have to work their way through college today are at a huge disadvantage. UC Davis is one of the finest univerities in the world. Hard to go wrong there! My kid had to work hard at Berkeley and she did, so I worked hard so she wouldn't have to. And I wanted her to have time to engage in some good old college hedonism-lol. I am glad to hear you are judging their writing (thinking). You are working to get the kids where they nee to go. Good for you. We need free university education. And a strong second chance community college system which requires no grades, is so essential I cannot emphasize it enough. You have a second chance as an adult (and a kid without savvy parents) to start there and then you can progress to a higher university when you have lerned how to think a bit.
