The Promise to pay 1 dollar of local currency ... I liked it when the cash was redeemable in Gold and Silver. The one thing that you can say is that Gold and Silver never went out of business or saw their worth go down preciptiously, except at times like Silver in 1980 when it was cornered, it had gone parabolically higher and thus a price decline was coming at some point.
