My apologies....sometimes I may come over harsh.

I have been in the networking industry for over 13 years now...it is all the skills that I have. There are companies that have been shpping gigabit ethernet since Dec 1996. Yes...there is a preliminary standard for GE that interoperable products are planned and shipping long before CSCO even gets out of the gate.

One of my points is that CSCO did not invent the Router either. When they first came out onto the scene there were numerous companies with the same technologies (ie. Wellfleet, now BAY). CSCO capitalized on the router while others were not as popular. CSCO was then able to purchase other companies and canabilize their technologies(ie. Kalpana, etc...).

Being in the industry, there is nowhere I can turn without seeing their products. That does not mean they have better products or technologies. They just have a name and an attitude that is starting to get them into alot of trouble.

My last point is that CSCO is not all what it seems. There is alot of room in this industry for companies to produce better products and capitalize on CSCO faults. Look into past history with the likes of IBM, DEC, and even BAY. In the long run there were some hard lessons learned by their mistakes. I do think that CSCO is starting to make the same.

Best Regards,

MJB
