"When you see people criticizing schools (for example) because they aren't doing things they really are doing, or because of weird random schools- that are only news because they are weird, you get a little burned out on criticism." That's because making stuff up, ignoring complete data sets and assassination by anecdote not only are NOT faulted in our political debate today, they are considered great virtues because they are used by people who passionately and incessantly "argue" a narrow POV. Entertainment value exceeded analytical value some time ago. Just look around SI, it's a representative microcosm of the debate out there. Facts? Analysis? Logical conclusions? Effective policies? GMAFB. That is sooooooooooooooooo yesterday.
