Paul, what are the latest numbers on earnings of the SPX from operating earnings, I want to stick it into a a spreedsheet that shows the SPX 500 operating earning YIELD vs. the 10 year treasury and then keep track of it on a weekly basis.

There are a few ways to do this using trailing numbers which are looking through the rear view mirror, or look at coming 12 month operating earnings forecast consensus as the numbers are provided by the big financial firms. Barron's in their 3 week panel interview session at the start of the year basically has most of the panelists tell what their forecast is on SPX earnings for the year.

The ratio of the 2 is something that I don't know of a single site that tracks and updates that on a daily basis or even weekly basis. And it should be done. I'm not sure how many sites are even doing it on a monthly basis. And there is also the argument of giving too much creedance to it at times of financial crisis, when liquidity issues and global macro economic and currency issues can subsume a US in a vacuum financial valuation metric.

Maybe someone knows of one if now We'll need to build one.

John
