Nokia Lumia 800

Nokia published an indepth video of the design behind the Nokia Lumia 800 on Thursday.

The video goes behind the scenes at Nokia’s London design studio with Stefan Pannenbecker, VP of Industrial Design at Nokia, Chris Linnett, Head of Lumia UX design and Kate Freebairn, Creative Director for Lumia UX design to explore the history behind the creation of Nokia’s first Windows Phone. The video details how Nokia put together a “swat team” of designers to create the best looking Windows Phone to date.

Nokia’s Lumia 800 has been widely accepted as the best looking, well designed and sturdy Windows Phone device. The design is matched with Nokia’s powerful marketing efforts across Europe. The company has spent a large amount of money marketing the device in the UK to ensure consumers are aware of Nokia’s Windows Phone offerings during the crucial holiday season. The Lumia 800 is built from Nokia’s “fabula” design language, a visual style that has been created to be used across a range of products, including the Nokia N9. “In creating Nokia’s first Windows Phone there was a whole lot more to the process than simply blending together Nokia hardware and Microsoft software,” said a Nokia spokesperson in a company blog post on Thursday. “There was an amazing amount of collaboration and a brave new approach to design that was applied to enable this product to come to life. This process was underpinned by a shared vision and determination from both Nokia and Microsoft.”

Nokia’s Lumia 800 will go on sale in Europe on November 16 in the color black. Cyan and Magneta variants will follow shortly afterwards, on November 28. Check out the design video below and WinRumors full Nokia 800 review here.
