Electricity is generated by the movement of a conductor thru a magnetic field. I have strong doubts about the longevity of a tiny moving-coil device. Or about the longevity of persons exposed to these fields for any length of time.
Air is fine for IT transmission, for power transmission it is an insulator. That's why we use copper, & sometimes gold. There's no getting around the laws of physics.
I can see the use of charging mats for extreme uses, but not the ordinary consumer.
