The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Football is a team game. You can have a number of great individual players, but if they fail to jell as a team (in the coach's system), they lose. That's what happened to the Dream team. On the other hand, one can have a bunch of average players, but if the coach uses them properly (ie; Alex Smith) they outperform and excel as a team.

No one knew that the Dream Team would become a Big Bust, given Reid's credentials as a coach.
