Stefaan,

According to their site, from an "n" of ~ 1000 lesions examined, 274 suspect skin lesion were sent for biopsy. The machine correctly found all (34) of the true positives (as determined by biopsy) for melanoma (the most serious form of skin cancer). I do not believe there were any false postives.

You ask excellent questions re false positives, but Health Canada would be asking the exact same questions as part of their review. When Health Canada reviews the data, they would look at the false postive and false negatives rate and if too high, clearly the value of the machine would come into question and I strongly doubt the aura would have been approved.

Health Canada approval is good enough for Europe once the CE rating has been achieved -- and it has been.

In terms of the tips, I am trying to get clarification on that. But I am quite certain the tips are disposable, so there should be no cross-patient issues i.e., the same tip being used on different patients.

Bottom line -- this is a big improvement over anything available right now that I am aware of.

Hope that is some help.
