"Some people getting richer doesn't make us poorer."

But, when a smaller and smaller group controls more and more of the total wealth, that does make the rest of us poorer. Which is what has been happening over the past 3 decades. And really accelerated over the past decade. Upward social mobility is way down. Even below that of much of Europe. Downward mobility is increasing for the shrinking middle class.

The tax cuts and cutting of regulation during the Reagan administration was supposed to benefit everyone, the rising tide lifts all boats. But, the reality was that instead of trickle down, we got trickle up. And that trickle has expanded to a growing stream.
