Actually, Société Générale de Belgique no longer exists... It was gradually dismantled by its French parent company, Suez. In 2003, the latter merged SGB assets into Electrabel (Belgium's #1 energy utility) and terminated SGB as a wholly-owned shell...

No, SocGen was never related to SGB... The latter, however, did operate a Belgian bank: Générale de Banque, which was merged with CGER to become Fortis Bank... the first European casualty of the 2008 subprime crisis.
