J Mako: " when everyone is rushing to produce shale gas, why doesn't the increase in supply depress the price? " The gas producers are rushing to produce oil if they can, not gas. They are allocating resources away from gas production. The price of gas HAS been reduced because there is a glut of it. This may last a while.
