Longnshort, this explains why the left-wingers have been in pre-emptive attack mode for the past three years.

They can't rally around their chosen figurehead, so instead they go after anyone who MIGHT pose a threat to their control over the White House and Congress.

That explains, for example, why they went after Sarah Palin with a vengeance, even though she never announced a candidacy.
