I remember quit well.

T1 will own the patents and Westell will get preferred pricing on the DSP based solution. The flexibility of this solution will allow Westell to compete with Alcatel. Providing modems that will migrate from ADSL to VDSL is a major advantage of the DSP solution. This will enable Westell with a TI DSP based solution to be the cheapest solution, not to mention it's flexibility. Will the ADI, MOT, ALA, PAIR and ORCTF solutions allow this flexibility? If not, we are talking about 2 physical hardware solutions, thus additional cost.

I still don't see the argument about owning the patents. A strategic alliance with TI doesn't provide the ability for breakthrough technology? The only company near TI on the DSP solution "that I'm aware of" is Lucent... until later.
