thanks for everybody well wishes
I debated whether to tell my tale here, being as private as I am
but
everyone who knows me, knows I lost 2 dear friends to breast cancer, so am a big advocate of screening
so, there is a lesson, lessons, in my story
showering 3 1/2 weeks ago I found my nipple was inverted - called the doc and me of all people had missed last years mammogram [was a crazy year] - also they normally notify for the annual via mail [didn't happen]
went in and had a 4 cm lump under the nipple - confirmed by ultra sound
here's a clue I missed - my breast had been sensitive to touch, but assumed it was hormonal - never should be that sensitive ladies
also, even though I do the monthly breast exam, I am busty and dense tissue, so could not feel the mass - the retracted nipple was the first clue - we NEED the mammogram and ultra sound at the very least once a year
after insurance and doctor jagging around, finally had the needle core biopsy
it is not cancer! !!!!!
but is a large firmly contained abscess - the initial cultures are A typical bacterium - which they have to "grow" longer before they put me on a long term combination of antibiotics [possibly as soon as Monday when I see a Infectious Disease Specialist] - hence the fevers and general punky feeling
I ran around like a maniac all week, [against doctors orders] till it's all caught up with me
ladies, keep track of your scheduled mammograms, ask for ultra sounds too, no breast should be painful to touch [it's a flag] |
