PS - apologies for the format margins. It will read better if you copy/paste it into TextEditor, i think

On Friday, 11-nov-2011:10:00AM, using GOOG finance, stock AAPL, its option call lists:

I'm going to 'buy' a 350.00CALLoption for 100*($37.80) that expires Friday 19-nov ... (a completely random choice)

the 'naive' basis for this bet is pessimistic: it bets that AAPL will go down below $350 by Friday.

the 'trader' basis is the hope that i'll be able to sell the option at the 'microsecond' that "BID=" becomes less than $37.80 before Friday.

Details: (OpenInt='#contracts not yet closed") (price=?change=? visual compare 'Vol, OpenInt' gaussians: '+nnn' '+' means going toward when i 'bought'; nnn=['Vol'-'OI'] peaks)

---->ok! - Let's say its done: i 'have' this contract for the 'ASK' price of $3780, the full investment. I will sell at the 'bid' price next week.

---->... 1/2 hr before expiration(AAPL=375.25):

there's a cliff at $365 on the "bid/ask"s: at $350=25.00/25.00; at $365=10.05/10.20; at $370=5.10/5.20; at $375 it's ~0.71; 0.02cents above that!

these contracts are out there?, people are madly swapping them?, how? why? "Vol" peak at $380, two peaks of "OpenINT" at $400 and $435/440

---->... 15min before expiration(AAPL=375.25), not much different:

there's a cliff at $365 on the "bid/ask"s: at $350=25.00/25.00; at $365=10.05/10.20; at $370=5.10/5.20; at $375 it's ~0.71; 0.02cents above that!

these contracts are out there, people are madly swapping them, hugest "Vol" peak at $380, two peaks of "OpenINT" at $400 and $435/440

there's a cliff at $365 on the "bid/ask"s: at $350=25.00/25.25; at $365=10.00/10.15; at $370=5.05/5.15; at $375 it's ~0.35; 0.01cents above that!

'Vol' peak looks more like " x*exp(-x) "

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

---->... General questions: how do i actually BUY/SELL the contract (i'm with Schwab - guess i have to ask them?)

what does 'in the money" mean precisely? (i see green digits say for call $535calls, but red digits on both sides of that line?)

why the difference between the 'price' column and bid/ask columns? (i understand 'ASK' > 'BID' tho!)

'Vol'=? 'OpenInt'=? Why does the 'Vol' column change but the 'OpenInt' column stays relatively more fixed as time goes by?

the above questions all refer to what i saw on the Google finance-->Apple-->Options--> View options by expiration (Nov 19, 2011) -Calls pages.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next 'call' contracts listed on Google are for 'Dec 17,2011" expiration date. only monthly contracts offered?

Lets rebuy: We 'buy' a 350.00CALLoption for 100*($37.80) that expires Friday 17-dec ... (another completely random choice i'll just pick same strike)
