My wife's aunt took us to an accounting client of hers who was a doctor. He loved classic cars. His wife said he used q-tips to clean them.

Our son has a large shop where he stores his vehicles, tractor, and tools. He refurbishes tire-shop equipment in it. Has a truck lift and a complete compressed air system. Has a work bench, a couch, a tap-beer dispenser, fridge, microwave, TV, urinal (I kid you not!).

He got married last July. The ceremony was on the lawn and the reception was in his shop. He hired a caterer and bartender. The bartender used the truck lift for the bar and it worked perfectly.

I think the difference between us is his willingness to sell or trash things he doesn't need, even if they are still functional.

I inherited an urge to keep things for which I can see a potential use. This makes my environment very cluttered. I've tried to defeat it, but when doing a major cleanup I find myself holding a piece of trash with a potential use and taking way too long to decide what to do with it. I've noticed that once I dispose of an item I do not usually miss it, but that doesn't help. I'm not so bad that I'm a candidate for the Hoarders TV reality show, but I tend toward that.
