Note the date below June 17th, 2011 03:45 PM ET Obama visits Walter Reed Posted by: CNN White House Producer Alexander Mooney President Obama visited Walter Reed Army Medical Center Friday, during which he met with 21 wounded service members, according to the White House. The president also awarded two purple hearts in the course of his visit, which was closed to reporters and cameras. The White House did not release the names of any of the soldiers Obama visited but said 16 served in Afghanistan while 5 served in Iraq. This is the third visit Obama has made to the army facility as president.
