Mary,

Just reassure me that Intel with a R&D budget six times Cyrix total revs that I will not see Kurlak someday day say Intel was caught off guard by Cyrix's All-In-One approach and will be addressing analysts to discuss Intels answer to this unexpected competition.

Some of the R&D efforts have been misdirected. 2 examples are MMX and AGP. They add nothing useful for the users. On the contrary, they increase costs. Cost of researching these "inventions", implementing them in chips, increased die sizes of the chips, need for new chipsets, redesigns of motherboards, need for new graphics card designs.

The costs have to passed on to consumers, who refuses to foot the bill.

Intel should rather pay a real divident if they don't know how to put the money to productive use.

Joe
